Paulina’s Magenta Hair

Paluina sent in pictures of her amazing, vibrant magenta hair color. Here is how she achieves this look:

first i lighten my dark brown hair with L’Oreal HiColor HiLift in MAGENTA and 30 volume. Once I have rinsed and dried the hair I apply Manic Panic in Hot Hot Pink (Purple Haze would be cool too) and left that on for two hours.
for upkeep i just lighten the roots every 8 weeks with the magenta color and 30 volume, the i reapply the hot pink all over. Super easy way to get magenta hair without bleaching.
For wild red hair, I would recommend using the L’Oreal HiColor HiLift in RED and 30 volume. Rinse and dry hair, then apply Manic Panic Pillar Box Red. Again, this is a great way for brunettes to go red or magenta without bleach. xoxoxo, paulina

I just tried this about a month ago I have to say it's pretty awesome. It really is a great way to go pink with out pre bleaching. Plus it looks really sophisticated. I feel like its the grown up way to go pink. :) if that makes any sense at all.

Hi there! I want to use the Loreal Hicolor as well to lift my hair color and achieve burgundy (I currently have brown hair from the fading of my previous hair dye). I'm not very experienced with dying hair so I wanted to know if I can use the Loreal Hicolor in red (to lighten) and then use a burgundy dye to achieve a bright burgundy color. Do you think that will work? From the sounds of it, it looks like you do the same? Except you dye your's hot pink afterwards?

I love how you keep natural highlights. I found with my medium brown hair it does this as well. When I had to dye over my pink hair some of the pieces turned kind of a cherry. I'll have to do this again.
